Interesting mix of pieced and applique blocks in the first design for today.
The second looks like a plan for a neat and tidy formal garden.

Interesting design, but disappointing colours.
Blocks in this project file are all from the Electric Quilt Library.
Another interesting design, and the colours are more interesting than the first. Amazing what adding more green leaves have done to the colour scheme, though still a bit washed out.

Soft restful colours for a restful environment for sleeping.
The blocks in these designs are from the Electric Quilt library, but with some modifications by me.
I like the way some of the blocks have sort of linked together, even though there is no sashing square.

Oh, so pretty!
I would like to make it a little more interesting to make a real version … there are too many of those five petal flowers … though I don’t mind the quilted only ones.
Would be more interesting to make but a bit too busy for my liking.

Interesting mix of blocks, or perhaps an interesting way to mix up some blocks.
I like the second one, but would leave out the 16 identical applique blocks and quilt a similar motif in that space instead.

The EQ Dozen project files were amongst the first project files created for the Virtual Quilter blog, and I still like playing whenever I open them … not that I need to as there are plenty of designs in there to cover quite a few more blog posts!
I like the first design best of these two, but the second one is rather interesting.

EQ Dozen was the first project file I opened so I could play with a small collection of blocks … it grew to a dozen blocks selected from the Electric Quilt 5 library, and over the years it has been updated to new versions of the program, but the blocks are still the same old blocks.
The collection of projects has grown as I added sashing and quilting motifs, but the block collection is unchanged, though a few have been modified slightly, and in this file some of them have become quilting motifs..
The first design today is a bit busy ...

Two blocks direct from the Electric Quilt library, and I like it.
I love mixing pieced and applique blocks in quilts, as it adds a lot of interest to any design to mix in something a bit different.

On second thoughts, I think the would look better with a darker background where the light is, and a lighter background where the dark is … or a wider border. I still like it as it is though!
Very similar layout, different blocks and backgrounds and added fabric selection, but I still like it.

Select a variety of blocks from the Electric Quilt Library, add some fabrics of your choice and use a basic straight setting and start playing.
You just might find your next masterpiece quilt.

This is one of my very early project files I started when I became the Virtual Quilter. It uses blocks from the Electric Quilt library, mostly without any modifications in many of the designs, though there are some.
I still like the second one after all these years.

Not my colours, not my style, but I love it!
Still not y colours, more my style, but still love the first one more than this.

Very interesting design.
All the blocks are basic Nine Patch designs in a straight setting.
This project file is a long way from running out … I added three more designs when I picked these for today’s offering.
(Make that four, and if I play just a little while longer it will have 300 designs.)

Pale but pretty.
The quilt blocks in this project file are from the Electric Quilt Block Library, with a few modifications by me. Modifying library blocks is a great way of learning to use the block drawing tools, but it can be addictive … but also a lot of fun!
One thing I have learned after setting up lots of project files with some less than perfect fabric combinations is that I start with a collection of blocks, but play with the fabric choices before settling on the combination which will make some really appealing designs before designing 50 plus quilts ...

Interesting, pretty colours.
This series of designs uses blocks from the Electric Quilt block library, but with modifications, including mixing shapes from different designs to make new designs.
Love the second one.

A great way to explore a few of the possibilities of designing is to select a few blocks, add a small collection of fabrics, and start rearranging blocks to see what happens when the blocks are mixed up and rearranged.
I think it is about time for me to select a new set of assorted blocks, this time from the blocks I have designed, and see what happens when I mix them up and rearrange them like I have done with these blocks.
But first I need to play in the dirt for a while, repotting some cuttings.

Interesting.
Love this … but love it as a large mat in a very old fashioned room rather than a quilt!
